Morgan's Skincare Routine

I was born with very fair skin and auburn hair. I have had freckles since before I can remember, or “angel kisses” as my mom would reassuringly call them. I have loved skin care products since I was little. Does anyone remember the cucumber mask from Ulta with the most abrasive apricot cleanser? Those were some of my earliest favorites. However, it wasn’t until I had my first IPL treatment with Dr. Lewen in the Fall of 2010 that I fully began to understand the importance of using a regular and consistent skin care regimen to protect my freshly treated face and chest areas in order to keep my skin looking as youthful and fresh as possible. The following is a glimpse into my daily morning and nighttime skin care regimen, along with a list of my yearly skin care treatments. If you have any questions you would like to ask me about my skin care routine, please feel free to email me at I look forward to hearing from you!

Morning Routine:

  1. Cleanse with Éminence Eucalyptus Cleanser
    • The smell alone makes me feel clean and it’s a great way to wake up in the morning.
  2. SkinMedica Rejuvenative Toner
    • I love this step! It’s so refreshing, and I’m prepping my skin for my game changing products that come after.
  3. SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF
    • This serum gives me an additional 8x the sun protection of just using sunscreen alone. This also helps with my pigmentation and helps to stimulate some collagen production too!
  4. SkinMedica Lytera
    • This product is a big difference maker to help with my pigmentation and for lightening/brightening my skin. It really helps to prolong the results from my IPL treatments.
  5. EltaMD Daily Tinted SPF
    • Always the last step before my makeup! This product doubles as my daily sunscreen, and also as my foundation. It has the best tint to it and doesn’t give any unnatural color. There is also a version without tint that I use sometimes when I go for a little different look.

Total Cost for Morning Regimen: $440

Note: The average product listed here (not sunscreen) will last me for about 4 months before it needs to be replaced. This includes daily usage of all products, and sometimes twice per day!

Evening Routine:

  1. Cleanse with Éminence Eucalyptus Cleanser
    • Again, the smell alone makes me feel so clean!
  2. SkinMedica Rejuvenative Toner
    • It is amazing how much more makeup comes off after using a toner!
  3. SkinMedica Lytera
    • This product is such a game changer for skin lightening and brightening! It’s really important for helping to get the most from the results of my IPL treatment.
  4. SkinMedica 0.5% Retinol
    • I use this product every other night as it is a little too strong for my skin to be used every day. This product should really be in everyone’s regimen! It helps to stimulate collagen production, turn over the dead skin layers, helps with oil production, and really helps with texture and other irregularities.
  5. EltaMD PM Therapy
    • I really love this moisturizer. It’s so lightweight, but still enough to give me some nice coverage and a smooth texture.
  6. SkinCeuticals Eye Cream
    • Another product that everyone really must have! When used consistently, this eye cream helps so much with my fine lines. Start using it NOW! I only wish I had discovered it sooner.

Total Cost for Evening Regimen: an additional $196 (3 products are already used in my morning regimen)

Total Cost for Regimen: $636

Average Daily Cost Breakdown: $5.23 per day! You are worth it!

Cosmetic Treatments with Dr. Lewen

Yearly Cosmetic Treatments with Dr. Lewen:

  1. IPL treatments 2 times per year
    • Face, Neck, Décolletage
    • Arms, Shoulders, Hands (I love this!)
  2. Botox treatments every 3 months (total of 4 times per year)

Injectable Cosmetic Treatments with Dr. Lewen (every 1-2 years):

  1. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC
    • Lip and chin augmentation, softening of chin (mental) crease.
  2. Voluma
    • Temples and lateral cheek areas

Helpful Tips:

  1. Do not forget to protect and treat your neck, chest, and the backs of your hands! You will regret it later if you forget or overlook these areas.
  2. Eye cream is best applied by slowly massaging out and away from the inner corner of your eye. Be careful not to get products in your eyes.
  3. Don’t be afraid to use the products! It’s so important to try different things with amounts and how you combine different products to see what works the best for you. Play and have fun with it. Not enough usage of a product is almost the same as not using it at all!
