Liquid Chin Augmentation Miami
A defined chin is important for creating balance and symmetry in the appearance of facial features. A well-defined chin and jawline traditionally has a near-universal correlation to perceived levels of attractiveness, and this is true for both males and females. In fact, for many people, a well-defined chin area can also help to balance out other areas of the face (such as the nose), that may be somewhat more prominent genetically. With normal aging, facial bones tend to lose volume and get thinner. As this involves the mandible (jawbone), a gradual involution of the structural components of the chin starts to occur. In both men and women, this can cause the chin and jawline to shrink, to become less prominent, or to be less clearly defined over the course of time. Without substantial bony support, this can also cause some of the soft tissues around the lower mouth to sag, contributing to the appearance of jowls, marionette lines, wrinkling around the mouth, deeper chin (mental) creases, and a loss of structural chin definition.
The mental crease exists as a line or crease in between the lower lip and the chin. Although some younger patients may have a more prominent fold in this area due to genetic predisposition, this area can also tend to appear deeper with age, especially as the lower portion of the face appears to become shorter. A deepening of the mental crease can result due to years of usage of the surrounding muscles of facial expression, and this can stand out as an area that becomes more noticeable and distracts from other areas of the face over time.
For many patients, Liquid Chin Augmentation is an excellent option to restore volume, create aesthetic contour, and maintain youthful facial balance, without having to undergo a surgical procedure involving a chin implant.

How often will I need this treatment?
Individual patient anatomy in this area of the face can vary considerably. Depending upon the severity of your volume deficiency or creasing and the amount of product required to correct this area, most patients will find that the results from Liquid Chin Augmentation can last for 9-12 months or longer. It is important to remember that every person metabolizes facial filler product somewhat differently, and therefore, individual results may last for variable amounts of time. Dr. Lewen usually recommends that his patients schedule a follow-up appointment at about 6-9 months after Liquid Chin Augmentation in order to evaluate the area and determine the best schedule for maintaining your results.
What is the downtime?
Every patient is somewhat different in terms of the healing time required after a Liquid Chin Augmentation procedure. Procedures that require more product volume will typically have slightly more healing time required. Although Dr. Lewen utilizes advanced injection techniques to minimize bruising as much as possible, this can still occur with these injections, and you should also expect some degree of swelling in the treated area afterwards. Applying ice to the treated area immediately afterwards and for the first 24-48 hours will significantly reduce the risk of additional bruising and swelling in the area. Arnica, a homeopathic remedy, may also help to alleviate swelling and bruising somewhat faster. Cover-up makeup can be used immediately following the treatment to help conceal any bruising that may occur. There is no downtime required after Liquid Chin Augmentation injections, and you can resume normal exercise 24 hours after treatment. You should expect your final Liquid Chin Augmentation results to be fully settled in about 1-2 weeks after your treatment.
Dr. Lewen schedules all patients who undergo Liquid Chin Augmentation for a follow-up appointment 2 weeks after your treatment is completed in order to assess your results and to review your before and after pictures.
